When I was still in high school I had joined a bowling team, not because i was enjoyed bowling, but rather as one of the team that I could manage to join. In the team the captain is a person called Bob, a junior in our school. It was said that he became the team's captain when he is still the freshman, at the time when the former captain wanted to retire and Bob's ability caught his eyes, you know, to have 8 strikes out of a ten-round game is something impressive for a school team.
Bob was a very nice person that willing to help anybody, and have a high sense of patriotic for his country, that he believed when he graduated from high school he would join the military. Normally people like us would think about money and video games more than about the country, and besides I was no even a person who born there, I just in there to get education and then I was going to out of it, and I remembered he had told me that,
"What if Hong Kong being attack by other country, will you defend it?"
"I probably go away before it starts."
So when he graduated from high school he went straight into the army, then the invasion of Iraq began and he was going there to fight, in a war that has nothing to do with defending the country except to put an end to a regime in a place we only saw in the newspaper. The operation ended really fast but the real terror just began, for the months after that all we see on the newspaper is how many US soldiers got killed in roadside bombs or suicide attacks, and soon I started to worry about Bob's safety, since he was a person I knew for 4 years.
Then that day came...
I closed down my store and walked toward the MTR station, the train came in a minute later and I walked inside. The digital panel above the seat facing me was showing news, and one of the news headline is about 5 US marines got killed in a suicide attacks that crash onto their transport when they were patrolling in the street. It was very tired to hear this so many times that at first it hit you emotionally, then the emotions gone and the rest of it was "bullsxxt"
I looked at the outside of the train as it run through the dark tunnel, watched the light went pass me as it was flashing, it quickly drew me into sleep. After I woke up as my head fell back and hit the window hard, strangely the next station was the one I going to get off.
After getting out of the station I saw a group of punk boy surround a girl who wore miniskirt, they are arguing about something but as long as it did not affect me I did not care, then I heard a familiar voice asked for help...
